I don't get all that PEMDAS / BEMDAS stuff. Why should multiplications be done before division? Or additions before substraction? Swiss-german speaking parts of Switzerland learn "Punkt vor Strich" which translates es "Dots before Dashes". Dashes are + (plus) and - (minus) Dots are · (times, "mal") and : (divided by, "durch") And the brakets - well you just understand them. Rule is "Zuerst in der Klammer" "inside the brackets first"

Multiplication isn't done before division, people who think that misunderstood BODMAS. It's more like B O DM AS D and M are on the same level as are A and S. It's a flawed way of teaching it and what you said makes more sense. It is the same thing though, our way is just a bit confusing to some.
