Today, one of my students corrected the problem I had solved on the board, explaining that you do multiplication before subtraction. I teach the second grade. FML

This makes me want to punch babies! and Kill Leprechauns, and tell kids that Santa isn't real.

Wow, some one knows the BEDMAS (Brackets, Don't remember E. Equations maybe?, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction) law even before they reach high school. Bravo 2nd grader.

you were teaching long division, weren't you? DMSB?

I always learned it as PEMDAS (Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction).

You shouldn't be teaching math, if you don't know order of operations. However, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt if the problem included a set of "()"'s.

Actually, it doesn't matter if you multiply first or divide first. You just follow the order that the operation goes in. for example; 3x4%3= 4, not a weird decimal that I'm to lazy to calculate right now. Whatever sign that comes up first is what you do. PEMDAS isn't literal. I think of it like this, P&E M&D A&S. It really doesn't matter. You probably did the problem by accident. I do it all the time. One mistake I had to show to the class made me believe I was stupid because everyone thought I was, and I failed a year of algebra because of it. Last year, I passed Algebra Top of my class with a nearly perfect percentage. It's people like the ones who called you and me stupid that hold great people back. Just because you did something wrong doesn't mean you're stupid. I don't like the people who called you stupid, to be frank. Sorry I took up all this space. Weird...

I remember when i was in first grade this damn substitute gave us some math problem and the bitch kept giving me my paper back because one problem was wrong. I told her to solve the problem on the board and then she realized her mistake. Rude ****.

just do what my teachers always did, claim you got it wrong on purpose to see if they could spot the mistake. They either laugh and forget about it, or believe you and you look slightly less like a fool.
