Today, our company was being visited by one of our biggest clients, a rich Japanese businessman. My boss wanted to honour him by welcoming him while wearing a kimono in the reception area of our building. The client was in a suit and tie, and I don't think he'll be back. FML

The problem is your boss forgot to offer sushi and challenge the client to a katana duel. Great, I posted this twice. Thanks phone. Sorry, can't delete this. Just downvote it

The problem is your boss forgot to offer sushi and challenge the client to a katana duel. He was obviously offended by this.

*sigh* Next time hopefully, he will do research about culture and differences in cultures... Japanese, when doing business wear suits. Kimono is meant for special holidays mainly, or at home, or occasions like weddings. Outside of those, they wear western clothes...

Yeah. I live in Japan, even if it's a special holiday I see a few people wear kimonos. Most people don't even own one because kimonos and Yukatas are expensive and you'd only wear it a few times a year, maybe not at all sometimes. I've only seen people wear it during a wedding, new year, or Seijin no Hi (coming of age day) but even if it's those holidays or events its still extremely rare to see someone wear a kimono x)

It said he was Japanese but for all we know he was a Japanese guy who'd grown up in Pittsburg.

Reminds me of Elf a bit... Just dress a classic suit and tie can never go wrong with that...

Is your boss Michael Scott from The Office?

this is something that would happen on The Office....good show

Is your boss's name Michael Scott?

You should become the guy in charge of making sure the boss man doesn't do anything like this again.

The pattern, obi, and color of a kimono each have a different meaning, so unless he was well versed in kimonos, there's a good chance he may have offended him
