Today, the man I have been in love with for years came to me with a beautiful ring and a heartfelt proposal. Too bad it ended with an eager, "So do you think he'll say yes?" FML

It's always the amazing guys who are gay. Always. Always. WHY. I'm glad I don't (yet) understand how that feels, but nonetheless I do feel bad for you, OP, even if you knew for so many years. In any case, I do hope he'll be happy with whoever he wants to marry. And you'll find someone. It's pretty easy, from what I hear.

Years? And you didn't figure out he went the other way? Wow...

She knew, she just couldn't help her feelings.

What's wrong with communication these days? Op, if you had a crush on him for years, why didn't you tell him that way earlier? In your eyes he went from fantastic to gaytastic!

I think the person posting is a guy. Which then he would know that the guy proposing was gay, hence thinking he was proposing to him.

Hopefully you knew from the beginning that it wasn't going to be for you, sorry OP!

How can you consider yourself in love with this man when you don't even know he was gay? You had a misdirected crush, that ultimately was a waste of time. If you have interest in someone let them know and you'll get immediate feedback. Otherwise you're just wasting time and your life. I suppose the type of person who thinks they're in love with someone they don't have anything intimate they share should expect this type of problem to continue to happen.
