Today, the Salvation Army stationed one of their obnoxious bell-ringers in the mall right outside my store. My employees and I can wave goodbye to any form of sanity for the next month. FML

Anyone working in retail in the month of December can kiss sanity goodbye anyway...Christmas shopping brings out the crazy in people quite well

I can only imagine OP walking around the store with those headphones on yelling at the customers, "ARE YOU FINDING EVERYTHING OKAY?!"

get your managers okay to hang a pride flag or ask them why the don't help gay homeless folks

i don't know what salvation army your referring to but they have no holds against gays. I have been a part of the church for the last 26 years. my grandparents were majors in the church until they retired and they have nothing against gays

I'm sorry that they are trying to help people and your selfish.

Nobody should have voted YDI. Those bells are an abomination. I used to work at a grocery service desk and had 6 weeks of non stop bells. I still don't understand why people are confused about not liking bells. It also is not actually for a good cause. Always beware of religious charities. They have the freedom to express any twisted beliefs they want, and I am free to refuse to have anything to do with them. They openly violate discrimination laws. If an employee is found to be gay or bisexual, they lose their job if they don't go in to counseling. There are also numerous instances in which gay couples are refused shelter. It's monstrous to have the resources to help people and refuse over something so petty. Besides the charity I work for, my money goes to Heifer International. You "purchase" all or a portion of a gift of livestock. This can be anything from chickens to cows to camels. People can use the animals for labor, milk, eggs, meat etc. Also, once they start breeding it's an industry. That's a worthy cause.

I hate to say it, but the bell is obnoxious, HOWEVER they are doing good, so I think we can cut them some slack

If it really bothers you, why don't you just ask them to stop with the constant ringing. Otherwise, deal with it. It's for a good cause, and who knows, one day, you may need their services.

Why must some people go on and on about something with multiple negative posts? You can't win and you come across like an ignorant, semi-educated bigot. Simply say "nothing I agree with in xxxxxxx" and go to another FML. JUST SAYIN'

Its interesting how everyone against the SA says "Do the research" I did. All I can find it articles from 3 years ago, and even when I look for an article in the past year, all I find is it copy and pasted. However, further research I find small time bloggers with no facts complaining and pushing their social justice agenda. I have nothing against homosexuals, but when they start an outcry saying the SA needs to apologize to them, then that's ridiculous. Its simple economics, a lot of America is christian so we can assume they are against homosexuals, feed that fire and create controversy, and you've got more funding. In the end, they aren't perfect, but getting upset because of their homophobia is looking at all the negatives instead of the positives. If the homophobia bothers you don't donate, if it doesn't go for it, it might end up helping someone.

Offer to make a charitable donation in exchange for the placement of the Donation Collector in a different area of the mall?

lol, that happened where I work too. This lady was such a pain in the ass, the manager had to remind her we already had paid greeters and told her to either shut up or leave, no shit. It was funny, but I feel your pain
