Today, to save money, I bought some meat in bulk. When I got home, I was told that power to the neighborhood was out, and probably would be for days. Rather than let the meat rot, I barbecued it all and gave it away to my neighbors. The power came on while everyone was eating. FML

Do you do this often? Where do you live?

Show it anyway

I think it's great that everybody in the neighborhood has had your meat in their mouth.

I'm guessing you live in a hot area. At least you let it go to use instead of wasting it. Sorry that you had to give it away though, that blows harder than a ***** in Bangkok.

At least your kindness guranteed your neighbors will have your back next time.. maybe

Not necessarily. People are quick to forget the deeds others have performed for them. I have a clown penis.

That's fascinating, what other kind of penis do you have

At least now you'll be thought of as the awesome neighbor. Most people would probably have returned it to the store (unless it came from the deli or butcher)

I'm guessing you were in the city blackout in socal last night? If you were, that was supposed to only last at maximum 24 hours. Anyways, if you weren't, your neighbors are geniuses.

The power was only out for 12 hours, but I can't imagine it took her 12 hours to finish cooking..

You...couldn't have bought supplies of ice and keep it in a cooler or the fridge? Those are pretty well insulated.

Or just return it back to the store. I've returned meat, milk, strawberries etc with no problems. If you have the receipt, most stores will take items back. Playing gracious host is a nice role but not when you're broke and since the OP bought in bulk, I can imagine giving away food wasn't the best thing to do in his situation. Hope you have good neighbors that return feeding favors.(:

I was here. The power was out in the entire city and included southern ca, new mexico, and arizona. All the stores were closed. We couldn't buy supplies either, because only some places were open and they only took cash since ATMs were down.

That's a really nice thing to do. You could have kept it for yourself.
