I was always told that the diesel fuel pumps were slightly bigger so that they didn't fit into a car that took regular gas, I guess I was just lied to.
This situation is the other way around, numb-nuts.
IMHO you americans have been spoiled by the fact that most of you drive automatic transmition, if the car had manual transmition it would have been impossible not to notice whether it was gas or diesel
Why would u say that a gently driven gas would feel the same as a deisel small deisels can still rev to 4000rpm
Your not very nice
You're*
You didn't see the big sign on every diesel fuel door that says 'diesel fuel only'?
siphon it out
Diesel to gas (petrol) isn't a disaster. It sucks sure but the other way around would have been a problem. We mix gas with diesel to keep it fluid in cold weather.. It'll be fine after siphoning 2/3 out and mixing a few times. It's also why the diesel nozzle at the pump won't fit... Vice versa it does
Actually they do that cause most cars are gas and most drivers are stupid so they make so the majority can't **** up
68 I'm a diesel mechanic and pure gas will not light under compression alone it cetane rating is to low. Also preigniton cannot happen in a diesel as the fuel is not injected until the point at which it is supposed to start burning it can only happen in a gas engine and it is caused buy something other then the spark plug igniting the fuel to early
And it's not called the up stroke and down stroke it's called compression and power strokes
Not trying to be rude, but how could you not know it was a diesel? They sound completely different than regular cars, and you would have had to have heard it running whilst driving (or riding) to the gas station. Definitely FYL, pay a bit more attention next time.
@ #6 you are completely wrong. started or not started putting in regular gas in a diesel vehicle will ruin the engine completely. I have worked for Ford Motor Company for 16yrs in the parts department and have seen this happen quite often. You can not mix the two fuels period. it will not just damage the engine it will blow it completely. The entire fuel system must be flushed completely and a new engine will be needed. OP sorry for your mistake. Hopefully your brother is compassionate and understanding of your mistake.

Sorry OP good luck! That ruins the whole car! I hope your brother forgives you!
If you haven't started it yet there is still hope
