Today, was my birthday. I asked for a camera - nothing fancy, just a basic digital camera. My mother bought my brother a fancy digital camera, with all the accessories, for over £200. She then gave me his old, analogue camera, that I can't get film for anymore. He hates taking photos. FML

I know how you feel, my parents pull that crap all the time. But as others have said, if he doesn't care for it I don't see you having any trouble borrowing it from him. So do what #29 did. :P

This just doenst make any sense. The brother is obviously not the "favorite" child, because he didnt get what he wanted either. This is made up, or the parents are straight up retarded and forgot who asked for what. Or dont like either of their children all that much.

i read it as the brother got a brand new camera for no reason whatsoever (since she didn't say that it was his birthday also) whereas she got a hand-me-down camera for her birthday. so it could be that the parents were trying to be dicks and rubbing it in her face how they like the brother better so they got him her gift.

or, she could be like 13, and her parents didnt want to spend a ton of money on something she would probably break or get bored with in like 2 minutes, so they gave the newer one to the brother who is presumably older, and gave her the one that wouldnt matter as much if she broke it.

I realize (realise) that you have a 300-character limit, but what the hell did you do to her that makes her give your brother a present he hates that you would love? hey, don't diss analog! people who actually know what they are doing typically get much better results out of antique cameras and real film, even if it takes you a few more clicks on the internets to find the film (try ebay, foo').

heres a crazy idea! how about instead of expecting people to buy you everything you want, get a job and go buy it yourself! i understand its your birthday, but why not ask for some money or something so you can combine it with money you earned yourself and get something you want with it instead of complaining that mommy and daddy dont love you enough because they didnt spend their life savings on a camera for you..

If you have two kids and your entire life savings is only enough to buy a basic digital camera then you've got some serious problems... especially if you just bought your other kid a camera that's clearly beyond the basic level (based on the ~$400 price tag)... Nothing says she's even old enough to legally get a job, because there are such things as child labor laws. Here you have to be 17 to get a job.. I'm 16, and would you yell at me not having a job and having a similar FML to this one?

i didnt know it was soo bad to ask for somthing for your birthday. i mean its soo disrespectful to do that. maybe she cant get a job because she is too young, think of that? besides the fml wasnt she didnt get exactly what she wanted but her brother, who hates taking photos got a better camera than her for no reason, when she got the piece-o-shit camera. you are one of the billions of idiots that somehow manage to not choke on air and kill themselfs
