Today, was my graduation from a prestigious university. In two days I start working at a hot dog stand. FML

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up doing something like this with my new shiny Bachelor's degree, too.

#78 the lack of motivation speach wasn't directed @ you, thats my bad. that part was for OP. i was just suggesting that since you have a security clearance, when you get outta the Army there are a fuckton of big companies that will hire you for a rather sizable chunk of change.

What the sentence does not say is that he probably got into said "prestigious" university from mommy and daddy's money, shit around the entire 4 years, and then expected to be an executive at a company right away. YDI

All this talk about supply/demand is bullshit. If supply increases, then demand depends on job availability in our current economy (in this case). Right now, demand is decreasing because everything is crap. OP, You have to sink to swim. Keep your chin up, but don't expect something to just be handed to you without going through some hard times.

I feel your pain. I'm graduating in a week with my master's and a 4.0 and I've gotten no response to any applications anywhere. I'm starting to lower my standards.

#33 - you're an idiot, how the hell can someone SPEAK IN A 'TONE' over the internet?

welcome to the real world. Sucks for all these idealistic kids who thought they just had to go to college and then they'd walk out with a job. i had to work for a few months with no pay and then another year at part time pay within my own industry before I got a full time salaried job. If you want a career in a specific field I highly suggest interning, even if you've already graduated, or look for the bottom of the latter... why? Because there are so many people out there rihg tnow looking for the SAME job but there is a chance they have more experience. Get experience and if you need to take a second job. Especially in a communications job. So many kids see it as this glorified career and a lot of college grads are going into communications now. and 114 you are right, and you aren't right. I am doing what I love but its certainly not a hobby. You can't really call marketing a hobby. And I know my father loves his job... but I wouldn't call number crunching a hobby either.
