Today, we got my dad an iPad for his birthday. I had to repeatedly reassure him that he could in fact touch the screen without being shocked. FML

Remind me to say the exact thing to you once you age.

Actually, touchscreens do use conductivity... Technically he's right but not really.

Awww....he'll get used to it.how old is he?

You probably play a lot of tricks on him. I'm shocked you would make fun of such a touchy subject.

Aw, parents. :) my brother and I got our normally non-tech-y dad a Kindle for his 60th birthday. It took him some time to adjust but he got there eventually; I'm sure your dad will too. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

Well, it IS Apple. If you're not careful, you may accidently agree to take part in a HumancentiPad experiment.

Just don't get him near a iPhone...the vibration it does for certain things could give him a heart attack !

How old is he? It's probably just kind of silly unless he's young enough that this should be common knowledge. Once he gets the hang of it he'll probably laugh at himself.

Technically he is right to an extent. Touch screens now work by using a tiny electrical signal between your finger and the screen. Hence why they don't usually work when you wear gloves. But the charge is so small that you can't feel it.

You do realize that almost all touch screens are of electrically insulating material, right?
