Today, we watched a movie in class. Afterwards, the professor asked us what we thought. I raised my hand and said it was pretentious, dull and a really poor example of filmmaking. It was the movie HE spent five years writing and directing. FML

Hey, you spoke the truth. People can't be babied all their lives anyways.

Exactly. If the professor is opening the movie to critique, he better suck it up and deal with it.

haha hope you don't mind failing and retaking it and hopefully when you do retake it, somebody else teaches it might as well drop the class now

hahahahaha love you for this friend.

#31: That's true too. Though I'm not sure about the diplomacy part, I don't think he(?) really said "It's pretentious, dull and ill directed," it sounds like a short summary to me. FMLs can't go beyond a certain amount of strokes.

Constructive criticism & honesty= Win. :)

Any damage you suffer as a result of this is an honourable burden. Art comes first.

Oh. Wow. But hey, you gave your own opinion and that's what he asked for, so right on. (unless you were being a douchebag just trying to start trouble in which case you deserved it.)

I kind of did something like this. When I was in highschool our teacher made us watch this ridiculous movie. She asked me after what I thought of it and I said "well the guy who played the main character was pretty awful but other than that it was ok." Turns out the guy who played the main character was her son. Oops.

I guess you're responsible for nothing other than being honest. He asked an honest question and got an honest (harsh) answer.

What I always found was that Professors tend to overcompensate for what students say in class. If you disagree with them, they'll be afraid of looking biased and like a child, so they wont give you a bad grade (it will reflect poorly on them), especially since everyone saw that happen . On the other hand, if you write it and only your professor sees it, there's a good chance they will read and read until they can tear it apart and fail you. You're fine.
