Today, while at the Golden Gate Bridge, I spotted a large group of Asians trying to take a picture. Trying to help, I slowly say, "You... want me... take picture?" while using hand motions. The man looks at me and says, "No thanks asshole, I got it," in plain English. FML

I'm Asian and this is gotta be the most insulting thing I've ever read. We're not stupid. We have to learn English as part of our cirriculum back home starting from 3rd grade. Great job for stereotyping the ignorant American. Next time, I'll be sure to reply in French for your confusion. And nice one, 446.

Being an Asian, I did find that rather insulting at first. As #266 puts it: "BTW, "You... want me... take picture?" -- They're ASIAN, they're not cavemen." Agreed, you did want to help them. It's not so much a matter of racism, but more of assumption. Of course you would naturally assume that that big group of Asians taking pictures are tourists. I admit, I'd assume a big group of Eurasians taking pictures at an Asian landmark are tourists. But do realize that speaking slowly, as well as using hand gestures, may be better off as the second attempt at communicating. Try proper, normal English with correct grammar first. :]

it's sort of an unwritten rule to see if somebody can 'speak English' before you assume they 'speak Engrish.' oh, and talking slower and louder doesn't make it a different language retard
