Cut the OP some slack guys. I'm sure they only forgot what today's date was, not what 9/11 entails. I've been teaching music to 5th and 6th graders this week (I'm a substitute teacher), and as a result my lessons included a bit pertaining to 9/11, and even I had to check my phone for the date yesterday and today.
I mean people are still very hurt by that, but I know you didn't do it in a bad way so don't worry about it
OP either wasn't alive or way to young to even remember the attacks. Not an excuse just an observation.
I don't see how he disrespected his country. Congrats on your memory, not all of us have good ones. I'm 18 but I didn't realize what today was until I got on FML actually. It's quite regular for me to not know what day of the week, day, or even month at times. My brain doesn't change because of a tragedy and suddenly remember things. That doesn't mean I think any less of it or don't care about the people that died, it just means my memory is shit.
9/11 was a terrible thing, but there wasn't any malicious intent when you made the paper airplane. I'm sorry that there was a bad coincidence.
You mean to tell me you've never forgotten important dates in your life?! I'm gonna be honest, I completely forgot today was 9/11 as well till I went on Instagram and saw all of the posts. Doesn't mean I care any less, same goes for OP. Just because they forgot doesn't mean they don't care and should be penalized for their bad timing. Stating "Never forget" is a little out there. There's a lot of memorable events and tragedies thats shocked America that I'm quite sure you've already forgotten, let's be real.
This is why political correctness has gone too damn far.
Probably just about every day of the year, an airplane has crashed. Should we outlaw paper airplanes altogether? Someone's feelings could get hurt.
Not only that, but paper airplanes are dangerous! Those damn papercuts hurt like a bitch!
Did they really punish you for something so stupid? It is not like you made tiny towers to knock over with your plane. If you had decent educators, then they would have simply said, "Someone thought you were mocking 9/11, so maybe lay off the paper airplanes and do some studying instead." There, problem solved.
Wtf students always make paper airplanes at school. It's just a fun thing to do, especially in a crappy class. Have they never seen a movie with school kids?

It's only making fun of 9/11 if OP purposefully crashed the paper planes. If they got upset just for him flying them, I'd say they're being a bit over sensitive. 9/11 was a tragedy, but it doesn't make such simple activities suddenly taboo.
My gosh everybody on top is getting down voted. Regardless of what they say OP, that is an exceedingly stupid thing to get in trouble for. It is a paper airplane. People are getting way to sensitive. I understand that 9/11 affected thousands and thousands of people, but it is a freaking paper airplane.
