Today, I went on a fabulous date with a really cute, smart, funny guy. He only mentioned his dad, so when I asked about his mom, I asked if they were divorced. She'd died of breast cancer so I felt awful. Then I asked if his dad had ever remarried. His stepmom had died of cancer too. FML

You may have said it jokingly and it was probably hurtful but as long as you tried to comfort him and apologized then I don't think you should feel too bad. It's one of those times where it was just really bad words coming at really bad timing but we all mess up like that so don't feel too bad

Yeeeah. The first rule you broke was ditching your date to talk to an ex in the same restaraunt. The second, was making a terrible joke. Way to alienate yourself from 2 people at once.
