I really don't see the difference. The music might've been different but at the core they're both boy bands with a strew of followers. I really don't like the Beatles either though.

I hate when people freak out about the comparison of The Beatles to 1D. Sugary pop boy bands, with thousands if not millions of screaming, swooning teenage girls. People get so defensive about it lol.

52 I'm sorry but the Beatles weren't just another boy band. They changed music. Have you ever listened to their stuff? The instruments they would use, the way they would record their music, etc. was groundbreaking. I think I would put One Direction on the same level as the Monkees or something.

There wasn't much special about The Beatles other the than the fact they got there first. Their music isn't technically difficult, their musicians weren't especially good, and the vast majority of their music was the equivalent of The Backstreet Boys with a few notable exceptions. There are plenty of other bands out there that have substantially better everything, but none of them can turn back the clocks to be first.

And to be clear I enjoy The Beatles, I have all of their albums. I just don't give them a ton of undue credit.

That's beyond stupidity. I cannot see how they are in ANY way related besides being musicians.
