It's a different standard for sons, their potential mate's father, not their own, is in charge of determining whether they're worthy. I for one, delight in frightening my daughters' boyfriends. If they're not man enough to respectfully stand up to her father, they're certainly not man enough to be worthy of her.

So you're saying their mother should weed out the losers, in the name of gender equality? Sure, but I'm nicer to them. I'm not trying to make them wet themselves in terror, just show some real character past the nervous bravado and goofy haircut. If you meant let my daughters make those mistakes without paternal input, you totally missed the point of having a memory. We can prevent our kids from making the mistakes we did, to an extent.
