Too little, too late

Today, I went to the health department to get on some birth control. I left the health department without birth control, and with the news that I'm pregnant. FML

Why have sex without being on birth control on the first place? Unless you are willing to raise a child, you should have used protection. YDI

Locking the barn door after the horse runs away is never a good plan.

Shouldn't have had sex without protection. YDI

I had my second child on the depo shot and we used a condom. Birth control can fail. Maybe they used a condom and it broke.

toxic_walrus 15

But it's more of a risk without it and that's just a facr

Whoops fact* I refuse to make a point with dumb misspellings

#19 this shots are known to fail most of the time. I have yet to hear someone NOT get pregnant when on that.

I was on depo for three years. I had condomless sex. No babies! Now you've heard of someone who did not get knocked up on the shot.

Shouldn't assume that people were having sex without protection. Any method of birth control can fail. The implant is 99.9% effective, but I know a girl who got pregnant with her 2nd daughter 3 months after getting the implant. Shit happens.

#61 I was on the Depo shot for about 9 months, off of it for a year, and I still haven't gotten pregnant. It works for most people.

I have the mirena implant and my dr told me that even if I did conceive the pregnancy either wouldn't be viable due to the implant or I'd very likely have a miscarriage due to the removal of it

I guess the self-control was in short supply. Congrats on the baby!

How it is congratulations when she did not want it and was not prepared for one?

perdix 29

#31, because having a baby is a wonderful thing and we can hope she'll change her mind and want it when she delivers.

#31, #48 is right. And besides, I'd hate to be the reason my mom thinks her life sucks.

It can be a wonderful thing but if she was not ready it could also ruin everything. Being a parent is a full time job. if she was planning on traveling around the world or if she was in college, chances are the baby will disrupt these things.

@135 Its no use saying that. Theres always a few fools that post "Enjoy your baby!" on any FML where the OP gets pregnant, seems like a sort of crappy effort to pressure the OP into keeping it.

That's crap I wasn't ready for my child at 20 but I took the responsibility and would not change a thing. I'm a single mom in college and we travel the world. We have a trip for Hawaii coming up. Just because it's not right timing doesn't mean your life is over!

Look at the bright side... You don't have to pay for birth control anymore?

Hiimhaileypotter 52

A kid is a lot more expensive. Lol

Birth control is free on the NHS. Ahh, it's good to be British.

jazzy_123 20

you're right, it's now diapers.

cryssycakesx3 22

birth control is free from planned parenthood

And that's why I don't go to the doctor, go in for one thing and come out with another.

While I don't necessarily agree with never going to the doctor ever, I can certainly attest to the fact that the last 6 or so times I've been to the doctor, they found some random thing wrong with me and sent me to some specialist. I'm apparently now a hypochondriac.

I went into the ER with gall bladder issues and left with a prognosis of an internal parasite that's now a six year old external parasite :)

Why would you have unprotected sex at all. It's not like condoms are in short supply. Pregnancy isn't the worst thing that could come from unprotected sex, STD's are.

if you had given a BJ or done anal, you would not be in this predicament.

You can still get pregnant with anal, things dribble. But you'd have to have experience in life to know that I guess.

frizz101 22

As hard as it is for men to understand, not all girls like giving BJ or having anal sex.

Giving a BJ would turn me on. Then I'd want sex, and since I don't take it up the ass, we're back to square one. Your advice sucks.

Birth control does not equal morning-after pill... It takes a month for birth control pills to fully cycle and be put into effect in a woman's body... Even if you make your partner wrap it up for sex, you should have the safety net of birth control before consummating a relationship. YDI.

No idea what kind of birth control you're talking about, but the pills work by preventing ovulation - which makes them effective right away as long as you start on the first day of your menstrual cycle. Waiting a month is unnecessary, as is using both a condom and the pill as long as you're using it correctly. Caution's always good, but IF OP actually did use a condom, it's a case of bad luck, not carelessness.

What is the point of still getting the birth control? You are already pregnant.

She didnt know she was pregnant. If she did, there wouldnt be an fml about it, now would there?

Good luck! I hope everything turns out ok. Planned Parenthood can help w/ prep
