Time for the Board of Education.
If it goes on, I would consider taking him to a different kind of doctor. My understanding is that any really noticeable regression in social skills in a baby 1-4 years old (like not responding, avoiding eye contact, not returning smiles and other things like repetitive or reclusive behavior) MAY be an early sign of autism. It could well be a normal 2 y.o. phase but I would keep and eye on it and look out for other warning signs. Early diagnosis can be helpful. On a side note: are you a boring naggy Mom?
Is he ignoring you because you ignore him a lot? Just a theory.
Trust me, this is normal. My 3yo does the same thing.
Kids these days... So smart! Er- not the teenagers though. We're pretty dumb for the most part.
This may be a sign of autism. Early intervention has the best long term results. Some places do free testing, psychologists are usually a better bet than general practitioners.
