People don't usually use "vehemently" in everyday speech, but it's not exactly an uncommon or not-well known word in writing...

That's a good adverb. o_o It let us know that he didn't just casually deny it, he denied it kinda passionately and with force. I like that word. Actually I've learned how to lie to women. Normally you'd do like this guy did and give some conflicting details about the night in question. Since he denied it then "admitted" to it, his girl now doesn't know one way or another if he cheated or not. She may think she knows but mindf*cks work both ways people. Easy way to keep her guessing is give her a grain of truth and a pound of bullshit.
