In Writing or an email at all? Ask for a raise or promotion at your job if another talk with him is pushed aside like that. Discuss how you love your job, but being lied to to take on projects no one else will is demeaning to your work. Discuss with HR. Start documenting everything, (Sadly, start 8 months ago). Go over his head and get what you were promised. I had to do that once when an old manager promised me a promotion and then told me I wasn't getting it after doing everything she asked.

Any chance the boss is just playing it cool? He might not have been expecting you to raise the question about the bonus, so was unprepared. Does he seem the type to slip it into your wage packet without a big hoo-hah?
