Today, I left my phone outside on the grass while I went inside to get a drink. I didn't expect my dad to run over it with the lawn mower. FML

Did he start up the lawn mower as you went inside or was he already mowing the lawn

You couldn't hear him starting the mower/using the mower? I mean, it's not like the things have stealth-mode or something, they're pretty loud.

seriously? you might not have expected it, but you shouldn't have left it out there. anything could have happened to it.

OP's Phone was very heavy and bulky and it couldn't fit in a pocket or be carried with one hand. Therefore s/he had to leave it behind.

It was probably one of THOSE phones. The kind that takes 4 people to carry, or more if it's a newer model.

Your dad probably should've seen your phone but it wasn't the best idea to leave it there in the first place

Grass that needs to be mowed is usually pretty high. Besides phones are ridiculously small now. No. Just no.

actually the newer ones are ridiculously big. like, tablet size

Ridiculously small? Maybe flip phones but definitely not the common smartphones. Bigger screen is the new trend for some reason

actually phones have been getting bigger the last year or so. Definitely big enough to see laying on the grass

yeah go put your phone in tall grass and get behind a push mower or sit on a riding mower. let us know how well you can see it.

Some electric lawnmowers are now surprisingly quiet, but if op was in the house long enough for her dad to start up the lawn mower and start cutting the grass, she/he kinda deserves it.

That is completely your fault.. I was actually expecting it to be stolen or covered in ants or something. That's just a dumb move on your end.

We don't know the entire story but it doesn't seem like the brightest idea

Oh I'm kind of thirsty, better go inside and get something to drink. Gee, this phone is mighty heavy, I think I will just set it here on the lawn so that it's not I'm my way while I go all the way inside.

Why are you out on the lawn in the first place? To show your dad where he missed a spot?

because some people like fresh air, and not the air you get from behind a computer screen.

Why don't your get some air from behind deez nuts

This is what happens when you don't pick up after yourself

Idiot. Even if your father didn't go over it with a lawn mower, so many other things could've happened to your phone while you left it in the grass.

Like what? I can't see anything other than being hit by a lawnmower happening to a phone sitting out for a few minutes. Obviously OPs father was outside so nobody was going to walk into the yard and steel it.
