Oh my! OP, if you've never seen the drink before, always check to see what it is before giving it to anyone, let alone a child! You should never try to hide anything like that either, what if something goes wrong? Depending upon how much you gave the child and their size, there can be serious complications. Personally, I'd admit my mistake and tell the parents. You may lose your job, but at least you did the right thing and notified the parents immediately after.
You should've told the parents!!! She could've died! Then guess where you'd be, any guesses? Jail!
Wow that's pretty messed up on your part. Not to mention Bad Karma dude. What goes around comes around!
Is anyone else thinking that a 9 year old shouldn't have to ask to be poured a drink at that age? I was fully able to get a cup and fill it with water or juice well before age 9.
Sounds like a shitty situation
What is WRONG with you?! I don't drink and even I know those things come in clearly marked bottles/containers indicating they're liquor! They even say liquor/rum/alcohol on them! And hello, what's wrong with a glass of water? How could you not have thought of that? The only thing you could "find?" Again, what about water straight from the tap. You don't live in Mexico, so it didn't have to be boiled or anything. No excuse for your stupidity. I hope the parents find out, don't pay you, and fire you.
why is everyone blaming OP for giving the girl what she thought was juice, if it was just sitting in the fridge where the kid could easily get it then i would assume it was safe for her to drink and would not think i had to smell it first. Another thing is OP should have asked the kid first if she could drink it maybe that could have prevented it at 9 she should know. OP should have told the parents but also the kids parents should have warned OP that it was alcohol and told her what the kid should drink. Water isn't always safe to drink. My water is so bad i wont even let my cat drink it! So yes both the parents and OP are to blame, however she should not have covered it up and told the parents what happened.
This "fruit drink" didn't happen to be in a martini glass, did it??
Great job (sarcasm)

That could actually be dangerous. You need to pay attention or find another line of work.
