Bad hair day

By Tony - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff

Today, I was fired for having a haircut that was 'inappropriate for the workplace'. I have alopecia. My boss told me to stop making up excuses. FML

you need to get some free legal advice, just call any lawyer in the phonebook and ask for a consultation. you are a new client, so the first 30 min is free.

Alopecia is the universe's way of telling you that you should be bald. Shave your head and hope that you don't have a raisin scalp.

Yeah, that's not going to help him at all. Use Google...

Depending on the type of alopecia, rogaine and or cortisone injections into the scalp, may be effective in eliminating additional hairloss.

You're stupid. Hair growth products are fail scams. I'm a hairstylist, you are clearly not.

you're dumb! you can't just use a hair product to grow the hair back. stfu

47- I am so sick of reading you're smart a** comments! Stfu and let people write what they think. I am 100% sure you do not know everything in the world. So how would you know that hairstylists DON'T know that? For your information hairstylists do know a lot! Some study everything about hair. I know for a fact you don't know everything. I am a doctor and I do know some hairstylists that do know a lot about things like this. So again, STFU. Thanks.

No, you're stupid. The treatments amerwin suggested are for the medical condition of alopecia. Cortisone injections (the topical cream wasn't enough) are what it took to halt mine until it went away about a year after I got it. Leave the medical advice to people who know what they're talking about, which you obviously don't in this case, dedicated hairdresser or not...

you were fired because your effort was sub-par. I mean you expect to hold down a job, when you can't even grow your own hair!? I mean COME ON!!! you're 'just woke up' hair is ready, and they're only gonna hold it for 24 hours.

Alopecia is a medical condition in which the hair falls out. Sometimes it is secondary to something else (like chemotherapy, for example).

Hey 18, dont post wasteful comments if you dont know what an FML is talking about. Youre on the internet, whether it be via phone, computer, whatever. Its called Google. Use it. I know I dont know it all, but I generally try to use all measures of learning to save someone from smacking their forehead at me... :)

asking other clearly informed people isn't a method of understanding isn't a means if learning? and while we're on it, you wana talk about wasted comments. your little rant about google could have been replaced with two words. bald spots. eliminating your comment and the two other dumbshits above you.

haha thanks yeah I'll look stuff up next.

YLS because you have a disease): I'm so sorry.

There is a blatant violation of law. take the medical documentation both to get unemployment AND to file a complaint with the EEOC. That is a slam dunk victory for you.

Not necessarily. If the op is unqualified for any of their positions that don't deal with people an employer in a right to work state may freely dismiss them for personal appearance regardless of the reason for it. It has been tested in the Supreme Court by an aids patient and it was ruled that regardless of his treatment schedule he must maintain an appearance consistent with written company policy at the time of his hiring. If the op knew the policy and failed to find a wig or suitable hat they might just be ******.

sue them for unfair dismissal, someone cant fire someone for having a disease that just wrong! get down to your local citizens advice centre and see what you can do. :)

Bring a doctor's note, and something to explain what Alopecia is. Allow your employer the chance to rehire you before suing. Until 2 minutes ago I had no idea what Alopecia was and he could have been equally unaware.
