Bad omen

Today, my friend Kate and I were helping build a playground. Halfway through, a construction worker asked where we go to school. I told him we graduated and proudly held degrees in Psych. The construction worker stopped mid-dig, glanced at us sadly, and said, "Yeah, that's what my degree is in too." FML

Unless you're going beyond a four-year degree, psych is useless. This shouldn't surprise you as more psych degrees are handed out than any other concentration last time I checked.

You have to be willing to move where the job is. If you aren't willing to move, then yeah..you might end up there. I knew astrophys' and microbiologists working in an inking factory because they couldn't find jobs in the area.

@139, thank you for understanding my point. Glad to see someone here has reading comprehension skills; @Rutero I'm not saying that there aren't a lot of people with psych majors that just **** around and do it as an "easy out". Because they definitely exist. I am saying that an intelligent motivated person with a psych degree will be just as successful and possibly even more useful to society than say an intelligent business major etc.

I heard this joke before. Except instead of a construction worker it was a Janitor. The best FMLs are the ones that rip off old jokes!

My college degree is pretty useless as well without further school. They should really put warnings on those things :D

A bachelors in psyche (or business ) Is only good for getting into law school. Ive met many psyche and business majors, and the level of stupidity and sheer incoherence in thought is good enough to be a lawyer.

What college do you go to where 3.5 is low??? Even if you were a extremely intelligent to the point where you DO have a GPA that high, you would realize that you worked your ass off for it and it was no easy task. You sound as if you breeze through your classes. I have no choice but to conclude that you either have a bullshit major or you go to a bullshit no name college. Don't say name has nothing to do with it, names carry weight for a reason.

OP, I read that and almost started crying. I'm a sap though. I'll agree, though, that with a major like that you want as powerful a degree as you can get.

Psych is never a great degree - you can't do much with it. You have to really be dedicated and go far for it to matter.

psych=useless degree that every college offers to trick morons into wasting money there.

I hear ya...I had my degree in psych and I didn't find crap for a job. I just graduated yesterday with a Master's Degree in Social Work and I don't want to be a social worker anymore. FML.

Whatever. Just get a PhD. That guy probably just couldn't get one, him resulting in being a construction worker.
