Are you a blonde by any chance?
I find it difficult to understand how you couldn't tell the difference. The only logical assumptions I can come up with are that either the machines are so old nobody can tell them apart, or you've never done your own laundry before. The first of which is hardly very likely.
Have you considered the possibility that you are not college material?
While OP's actions are stupid, at least he made an attempt. Some lazy bastards take their laundry home for their mothers to wash.
The washing machine/dryer OP has at home is most likely completely different to the one at the college.
I would vote this as YDI, but I took a step back and said, "I can't blame you, This is pretty much me, too". Learn from your mistakes.
I always appreciate finding someone with self-awareness in the FML comments :)
OP no offense but you sound like the kind of person that struggles with simple tasks.
It's always simple until you shrink your favorite sweater or end up with pink spots all over your laundry ... not to mention accidentally washing something that should be dry cleaned only.

Now they're super clean. I hardly see what there is to complain about.
Brilliant, hitting the books a little to hard?
