Um, extraneous circumstances aside, it's usually the fault of the company whose bill you are paying, not the bank's. The bank is often just an innocent bystander. As for getting both credit for both the fraudulent charge and the overdraft fee, you need to file a complaint (which you already did). Just be lucky that you have an account at a bank that is compensating you for the overdraft. Not all banks do this, nor are they even necessarily required to. If you are required to return your account to a zero balance first, then unless the employee's information is wrong, it must be a stipulation of your bank's policy. YDI for not knowing or understanding how your bank account works. Instead of whinging on about it, just pay the balance and you'll have that much more added to your ending balance. This is not an FML. Get a life.
all the posts on here are just dumb ass customers. i can only speak for my bank..and if there is an error on our part, we correct it. which is kinda rare. it's usually the dumbass unknowledged customers who keep .10 cents in their accounts.
unknowledged! LOL who's unknowledged?
sounds like you use bank of america, heard they do this kinda stuff to people all the time... from someone who used to work there
the bank I work for will automatically correct any error that is our fault. it sounds like it was your fault in the scheduling but the bank is agreeing to reverse the fees. in order to do that your account has to be positive. of course this is all speculation so whatev...
Yeah, Bank of America is a terrible bank, switched my money away from them as soon as they swallowed my nice little local bank. I would be interested to hear which bank this is that screwed you.
Like a lot of others, I instantly assumed this person had BofA. How sad is that? I ******* hate them. Worst ever. I would say that their customer service is horrendous but that would be generous. They seriously Jew you out of your money left and right. Absolutely shameless. If I ever win a big lottery jackpot I'm totally gonna pull a 'Pretty Woman' on their asses.
So, Sare_Bear, how long HAVE you been a Nazi, just out of curiosity? "They seriously Jew you..." You DO understand the implication of that statement, right, Herr Himmler?
Capitalists only want money...

Get a new bank. And when you close out your account at this bank, make sure they know the exact reason why. Don't let them sweet talk you back in. Be firm and go to another bank. Write a letter to the president of the bank with your complaint, publish it in a blog, on Facebook, on Twitter; coming here to FML was a step in the right direction.
do the american thing- sue them.
