Today, my mom talked to me and my brother about how great it was that our cousin was getting away from drugs and becoming sober, as he would have so many more opportunities opened up for him now. She explained all this while sitting on our patio, smoking a blunt. FML

I don't know much about marijuana but I believe in living sober. Life is good enough as it is and it is just wrong to have to use any type of drug to make you feel something that is not real. People will always defend drugs but in the end they are simply bad and no good can come from them.

Maybe you should learn about it so that you know what you're talking about. Most people don't need marijuana and are better off without it, but for others it has bettered their lives. Marijuana has saved lives, contributed to the healing of ailments, medical problems and promotes positive energy. Marijuna as a a bad drug is old news. I agree that life experienced is better sober, but other people have been given back their appetite and ridden of their anxiety. Like any bad drug or anything in the world really, abusing something can literally have nothing good come out of it.

No good can come of any drug unless you actually get sick and need to treat your PTSD or your cancer or your debilitating nausea or your seizures...and that's just marijuana.

The response was for someone insisting "no good can come" of any drug ever. There's obviously a lot of good that can come from getting treatment when you're sick. That some people use marijuana just for fun does not change the fact that others need it as a medical treatment. The topic of recreational availability is a separate discussion.

Was she specifically saying that she's glad your cousin quit smoking weed or was she talking about drugs that will actually kill you? Was your cousin an addict? Would you be trying to pass this off as an FML if she said the same things while drinking a beer? Even if you live in a state where marijuana is illegal, you should seriously know by now that it is not at all in the same class as something like meth or prescription opiates (which cause the most overdose deaths). The federal schedule 1 classification is stupid, counterintuitive, and archaic, and if you're old enough to post here you should know that.
