Chill out, Kathy

By nearly a crazy lady - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United Kingdom

Today, my OCD manager sprayed my hands with chemicals because I'd touched the bin while throwing away a piece of paper. My hands are now covered in itchy, unattractive rashes. FML

Time to work on you "trash basketball" my friend

OCD sucks. I can say that she really can't help it. I've been there, and everyone gets annoyed with me over my "quirks" too. I know it sucks for you OP, but your manager really can't control it. It sucks for all parties involved

All people with OCD must ******* hang

To everyone that has said "oh she has OCD and can't help it" that's bullshit! There are meds and support groups and all kinds of different resources to manage OCD. I know I have OCD as well it's hard at first, but it's actually easy to manage. So with that being said, yes in fact she can help it.

I don't think the OCD is an excuse for what she did, but you can't just say that it's easy to manage. OCD is one of the hardest illnessess to manage. Many people have actually become insane by trying to treat their OCD. It's not just something you can stop by wanting it really hard. I'm happy for you that the medication and psychiatrists work for you, but either they don't work for the boss, or she hasn't tried them yet and no OCD-case is alike. Don't think that because it was easy for you, that it is easy for everyone. I had a friend that killed herself because she couldn't handle the treatment.

And that's a valid excuse to spray your employees with chemical irritants?

Ok so a) I don't control my OCD by "wanting it really hard" and b) who said that I was on meds and go see a doctor? Did I state that anywhere? No I did not, you are assuming these things. And you might have assumed that your friend killed herself over her OCD, but there could have been more things going on than what you knew. Thank you and have a great day!

If the manager didn't ask first, speak with him/her about it. If that doesn't help, file a complaint.

Good thing you don't work at a hospital...of in the case she doesn't...
