By JustClaire95 - This FML is from back in 2014 but it's good stuff - United States - San Francisco

Today, my dad told me that I can't wear leggings on Friday nights, because, "your butt is too distracting for my poker buddies." FML

JustClaire95 tells us more.

I'll prob just wear jeans from now on. Though it'd be funny to see them react to a mini skirt lol!

Leggings are not pants anyways.

or maybe he keeps catching his friends peeping at his daughter

I wear leggings with long tops, but never as just trousers.

I guess this means yoga pants also aren't an option for Friday night.

Some leggings can be see through depending on her color choice of undies and the thickness of them. It's best she wears something else for poker night.

Your dad its an idiot , Thats the point in poker , to distract the other players so you can win :)

I'm thinking of a great business endevour, OP distracts the buddies and her dad wins at poker

He should tell them to stop staring at your ass.

Wouldn't that be exactly what your father wants? Everyone else distracted, so he's more likely to win?

Your dad complimented your butt. I don't see a problem.

Your dad obviously needs to talk to his friends. Not your fault!

I don't see why this is a FML to be honest.. He obviously loves you, and doesn't like seeing his friends looking at you like that. Be proud to have a father like that.

He's obviously a sexist moron. She can wear whatever she wants. He would tell his perverted friends to either stop looking or get out of his house if he really cared.

88, how do you know that it wasn't one of OP's dad's buddies who pulled the dad aside after a game to confide that the daughter wearing leggings was distracting and discomforting to him? That's a possibility that no one has mentioned so far, and one that seems just as plausible to me. Sure, sure, the friend shouldn't be looking at all, I'm not arguing that. What I'm saying is that while OP is totally entitled to wear a Saran Wrap bikini in her own house if she feels like it, her fathers friends are also allowed to see it and feel uncomfortable ogling the teenage daughter of a friend.

You are right, 98, I hadn't thought of that. How likely is that scenario though?

I'm not going to speak for huge swaths of people, 141, but I will say it happened with me when I was 17. Only instead of one of my dad's poker buddies, it was an old family friend. He would avoid me like the plague when he would come over, until he finally said something to my dad. When my dad pulled me aside I wanted to be outraged, but knew that he wasn't trying to be malicious or perverse. After that I started dressing more modestly when I knew he was coming over, or would change when he dropped by. No skin off of my back if it made a guest in my parent's home more comfortable.
