Whaaat? As long as you didn't pour the contents of the spices then it's not like you made a mess, and judging by the fact you said you laid it out I'd guess they were still in the bottles.. I don't see why you're girlfriend had a problem with it, I'd find it funny :)

I think timing was key here. The joke was cute and funny, but did op do it at the right time? Maybe they were about to have sex and he ruined the moment at her expense after telling him how she felt, but on the flip side she shouldn't have been so uptight about it. I think it's a battle between him taking her seriously and her lightening up.

Yeah, everyone's arguing over whether the girlfriend overreacted or not. But IMO, the real FML is that he didn't know his girlfriend well enough to predict how she'd take his joke.
