Find someone for you who is not embarrassed. Women are still belittled so much by the world, we have to try to stand up for ourselves. Guys like that make it impossible

Uh, OP, you need to dump that guy ASAP. If it was his parents he didn't want finding out because he'd get in trouble for having someone stay the night - fair enough, but if he's too ashamed to let his *room mate* know, he obviously doesn't care enough about you to be worth your time.
