Can't say I haven't done that before. At least you'll get some overtime out of it hopefully
I did that at a job one time. I took a specific day off for a family member a month in advance. A week later the plans were canceled. When the day finally came I walked into the office where we all gather before starting the work day. All the guys started laughing and I asked what’s wrong. My boss then told me I took the day off in Advance. He asked me if I wanted to work and I immediately said hell no, walked out and went home to catch up on some well deserved sleep. Well I’m my case I’m a moron but I’m your case your workplace wronged you and you dam well deserve an extra day off.
If they forgot to tell you about it earlier then they shouldn't have mentioned it at all! That's worse coz now you are stuck with "I could've had a day off!" mindset..
Can you add that day off onto your entitled holiday leave?
Hopefully you got paid for your work.
Hmm, most bosses don't give a shift.
Hahaha. That's a good one.
Oh boy. Good luck. Your boss should really tell you when you have days off so you can relax. On the bright side, you might have worked on days you didn't need to work on so many times that you could actually have like 3 or more months off just to make up the days you worked when your company forgot to tell you you had days off.
Insert overtime pay here!
so you just clocked in and nobody even noticed until 5 hours later? At my job, the timeclock is set up to only allow people who are scheduled for the day to clock in, and denies the attempt if you're scheduled off unless you get an override from a manager.
