Fly my beauties

Today, my first graders released the butterflies we've been raising. The kids were sad that one had died in his cocoon and wouldn't be set free. Turns out that butterfly may have had a better fate: a flock of birds ate half of the others. Immediately after releasing them. In front of the kids. FML

So they learn about life and death...killing two birds with one stone. Or two butterflies with one bird. Take your pick.

#4/5: You are aware that there a lots of different kinds of birds, right? With different diets? There aren't really enough worms in the world to sustain the entire avian population. Plenty of birds are insectivores. And, at least the kids learned about 'the circle of life'? I would have been pretty upset if a bird ate my butterfly though :(

#10, is it not possible that the butterflies were of the 5% species that are not poisonous? Or that the birds didn't know that the butterflies would be poisonous? Poison equals vomiting, bird dying. Poison does not equal the bird not eating the butterfly in the first place. Now shut the **** up and stop acting like you can predict anything that a bird will do.

Sounds like a valuable lesson for the children. They get to observe the food chain in action. Where's the fml?

Life lesson learned early. shit happens. poor kids

I'm going with YDI since it's not really a FML but not really a YDI either. It's nature, and the sooner these kids learn that, the better off they will be. It's a dog eat dog world.

Hahahaha, that's one of those things that are so awful it's hilarious. Just be glad it was through no fault of your own.

Yeah you got that from Baby Blues the comic
