Today, my brother showed my wife a Craigslist ad by someone seeking casual sex. It had very specific details that made it seem like I wrote it. My brother later admitted in private that he made the post as revenge for me not loaning him $500 last month. Meanwhile, my wife still thinks I'm unfaithful. FML

So your brother's response to not getting money was to try and ruin your marriage? I'd keep him at arms length from now on. And honestly, 500 isn't "i'm going to lose my house" money. I'm curious what was so important that he needed the money for.

Wow not cool. That's taking it to far. Time to plan for some revenge Op.

Didn't realise we use Craigslist in Australia?!

Record you talking to him about it and show it to your wife I think

What kind of a person slanders someone like that, if they are willing to damage your character and marriage what makes you think they will pay you back. Dont you have to pay to post on Craigslist?

$500? And he's trying to ruin your marriage?! I'd be seriously questioning my relationship with my brother if I were you, he seems to have some serious problems. Hope all ends up ok with your wife... ?

How did your wife come across this ad other than browsing the casual hookups section on Craigslist herself?

OP clearly states his brother showed it to her as revenge.

am I the only one who thinks it's strange that something as small as that can make their spouse think they're unfaithful? especially if their spouse never showed signs...and if it is that easy why are you with somebody you barely trust

The brother purposely wrote the ad to make it sound like OP. Its enough to make any woman at least a little suspicious. Enough for a conversation, anyway. It should be easy to prove it was a set up though.

Your brother sounds like a dick. He needs to understand this type of behavior is not okay. Not only did he ruin your reputation but he also potentially ruined your marriage. Now usually I'm the type that tries to be the bigger person, turn the other cheek...so on and so forth...but in this case payback needs to be a bitch and that bitch needs to take him down.

Sorry OP! Hope your wife realizes it wasn't you up to no good.

Try to get your brother to admit it on tape.
