So your healthy relationship is worth 500 bucks in your brothers eyes. I always thought this is something you can't put a pricetag on.
You can pick your friends, just not your family. I hope you find a way to get back at that little s#!t
BS, you can pick your family too. He will always be your brother, but there is zero reason to put up with this kind of thing, especially since I'm willing to bet the asking for money and this craigslist prank are not the only things he has done.
I'd would've broken his face on the spot.
This is the proper response. OP must also drag his brother to his wife and have him explain all of it to her himself. If OP tries to explain everything himself, OP's wife will still be suspicious.
Seriously? It's the first sentence of the FML. Please read it.
One word can perfectly describe and sum up your brother. Loser.
So, $500 is worth a potentially ruined marriage in his eyes? I'd explain things to her. She probably knows about the unlended $500, so she might believe you. And cut him out of your life. That's a poison you don't need.
OP's brother showed her the ad, as it states in the OP's post.
He's obviously the type to pay back what he owes you. I would burn that money before giving him one ******* dime.
To me, this is something that would warrant being cut out of my life. For someone to try to ruin your marriage like that... It's disgusting. I am so sorry you ended up with a brother like that. My husband has one like that and life has been so much better since we got rid of him. Slowly, but surely, he is burning every bridge with every member of his family. They were just a lot slower than us to see it.
If my brother did that he would need to leave my house in a stretcher.

So your brother's response to not getting money was to try and ruin your marriage? I'd keep him at arms length from now on. And honestly, 500 isn't "i'm going to lose my house" money. I'm curious what was so important that he needed the money for.
Wow not cool. That's taking it to far. Time to plan for some revenge Op.
