Today, I woke up to see my cat crawling out my window onto the roof. Afraid he was going to jump to the ground, I crawled out my window as well. I caught him. The neighbors caught me in my underwear and bra yelling at my cat on the roof. FML

Today, I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and I noticed the balcony door was open. As I went to go close it, I swear I saw my cat wondering outside and I panicked. Long story short, I locked myself out searching for the cat and the next thing I knew, he was meowing at me from the balcony a few feet above me. FML

Today, I was at my girlfriend's house when we noticed her cat was missing. We saw it on the roof and so I thought I would try to look good by offering to go on the roof to retrieve it. The cat had climbed down when I got up there, and I have a fear of heights. Her mom had to help me down. FML

Today, my cat escaped through my front door. It was dark out, so I had no idea where I was going. I finally caught up to him in my neighbour’s lawn and I gave him heck for scaring me. It took me a minute to realize I was actually talking to a bush in their flowerbed. FML

Today, I heard my cat climbing on the counters in the kitchen. To prevent a tremendous avalanche of dishes, I picked up the cat and put it outside. She got scared from the blinds and scurried away leaving deep scratches across my nipple. I wasn't wearing a shirt. FML

Today, while trying to sleep, I heard what sounded like someone breaking into my house. I ran downstairs, only to find my cat had ripped down my blinds and was tangled up in them, thrashing around the floor like a fish. FML

Today, I was enjoying my dinner by my patio window when I spotted a cat roaming through my backyard. As I observed it explore my yard, I also watched as it climbed onto, then took a piss on the freshly clean clothes I had left to dry. FML

How tall is your house? If it's one-story, don't worry about the cat; easily survivable with little or no damage (if your cat is agile enough to make it to the roof from a window sill, then he probably would be fine if he jumped). Generally, cats won't jump if they don't think they'll be fine, unless they get super spooked. They may be pets, but they're not totally stupid. Your cat was more likely than not going to be fine.

Not to mention its a CAT.. Cats climb on roof tops and jump off and leap through trees. They're god damn ninja of the night. If it was a DOG, or maybe a BABY then sure, crawl out in your underwear, but a cat is far less likely to hurt itself than you are. Not only can it probably make the jump, if it tries, it probably knows it can. Cats are pretty good at that sort of stuff... YDI
