I realize I'm just repeating what others have said, but I must emphasise again how important it is for you to ensure your brother sees a psychologist. As those above have pointed out, having few relationships and harming animals are hallmarks of sociopaths. Sociopaths feel no empathy with others, and cannot feel remorse. Obviously not all sociopaths grow up to be serial killers - they are often very successful in business and other industries that require selfish decision-making - but many serial killers are sociopaths. If your parents aren't receptive to your suggestions (and they may not be - although sociopaths are born, not made, it is nevertheless devastating for parents to think their child is a remorseless killer), go to the counsellor at your brother's school or your brother's doctor and ask for their help. They should be able to refer you to someone who has experience in child psychological disorders. If insurance etc is an issue, do some research - there should be free mental health services available in your state. Otherwise go to your local college, if there is one, and talk to someone in the psychology department, who should have more knowledge of what resources are available. Good luck - remember your brother may be struggling with a lot of issues that are terrifying for a small child, but if you are able to get him help now, there is a very good likelihood he will be able to lead a happy, productive life.
LOL dr phil citing. looove it. FYL
Clearly you have bigger problems on your hand. Any child that is capable of hanging a hamster needs counseling ASAP.

Ya, that's gonna be a little problem. Most serial killers have a history of harming animals as children. You should seriously seek some professional help for him.
