133 - you should try to get into the habit. Eventually you will have a problem otherwise. I can't help thinking that OP is throwing stones from a glass house - it was harsh of the bystander not to help but the problem appears to be of the OP's own making and easily avoidable. Cars are heavy but if moving only slowly and on a gentle slope it could easily have been stopped by two so unless the bystander was in some way at abnormal risk or the car was already moving fast a little help would have made a big difference. OP could probably have stopped the car herself if she had concentrated on that task first and then worried about the key but we are not always thinking so clearly in these situations.
Anyone saying the op is a dumbass, has obviously never owned a manual transmission vehicle, it's not stupidity, sometimes you just forget especially if your in a hurry, anyone who drives a stick can tell you that this kinda stuff happens. So unless you drive a manual shut the **** up, cause you have no idea what your talking about
Hey, I have driven a manual for 20 years and I have never failed to put on her handbrake. You just get into the habit in the same way that you never forget to put the clutch down to change gear - it becomes a reflex. The only time I ever forget is if I hire an automatic. Then, because the car is doing all of the work, the reflexes don't kick in. For me at least. Your post is very aggressive. Edit - this was @ 144
You're calling some dumbass when your the one that
Your calling someone a Dumbass when your the one trying to stop a car with one hand.
And how exactly was the dumbass supposed to help when you could have used the emergency brake...
The car was locked stupid!!!
You do realize that you could have avoided this whole situation by using the PARKING BRAKE!!!
You should have used your body to push the car. It wouldn't have made much of a difference in actually stopping it but would have bought you some time in getting your keys. I'm sure you'll think next time.

I fail to see how he's the dumbass in this situation.
