1. Chopsticks aren't hard to use. 2. You don't really need to use them to eat sushi. Most Japanese people just use their hands. 3. You could have shown some self-control and politely excused yourself to the restroom to wash put your eye.

You used your chopsticks eloquently... but rubbed wasabi in your eye. So either you rubbed your eye with a chopstick, or you picked up wasabi with your hand. Either way, I think you misused the word eloquently.
