Ironic, isn't it?

Today, my father's company shut down his branch, leaving him without a job. This is followed by a letter from my school's financial aid office, saying I'm not getting a penny because my family's income level is too high. FML

You can appeal by showing proof that your dad lost his job. Happened to me.

Yeah write them a letter explaining things.

#13, I am one of the 4 kids in my family who attend expensive Catholic school. My parents apply for financial aid every year because every bit of money helps. Especially in the OP's case where someone could get laid off at any time.

#13 - it doesn't take much for financial aid offices to think a family makes too much. They tend to forget that families need to eat and pay other bills. They often fail to take into account that sometimes parents refuse to help pay for college. OP - Appeal to the financial aid office

Why would you bother applying for financial aid if your dad was making alot of money in the first place?

FASFA forms are sometimes required.....I have to fill it out every year for my college just to keep my scholarship even though I know I am 7 times over what it takes to get any aid.

It's not that bad you can tell them the situation and they'll easily understand

Ah, Government run systems, if we play our cards right America, we can have our healthcare run with this same kind of research, and logic. There's a scary thought for you.

FYL indeed. I really hope that you appeal & they give you some money. Education is paramount :)
