Kids these days…

Today, since I'm still recovering from my surgery and can't drive, my daughter drove me to the doctor. When I was done and walked outside, she was nowhere to be seen. Then I got a text, saying, "Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere." The closest bus stop to our house is miles away. FML

That would be the end of her driving privileges for quite a while if I were you. My mom would have been irate! Then again, I never would have thought about doing that to her.

Hoping this turns into more of a fml for your daughter as she should be punished big time.

She needs to be punished BAD. How the hell can someone disrespect their parents in the state they are in, because they "had to be somewhere" disgraceful.

Call her and tell her to get her spoiled ass home. Totally unacceptable.

I wouldn't be lending her the car anytime soon if I were you.

No offense but you are the one acting like a fool. Not only is your tone/attitude insulting when it doesn't need to be but you are telling people off for "assuming" when your assumption is just as wrong. Firstly, the people here who are posting with the thought that the daughter is under 18 and thus under the Op's roof makes sense. Due to the daughter's actions of acting selfishly, not planning ahead, and ditching her huge responsibility shows she is most likely not an adult. Since the general consensus agrees that being an adult is of the age of 18 years or older and the fact that the majority of underage Children live with their parents proves that their assumption could be correct. Secondly, you are assuming the Op could actually function on her own when we don't know what type of surgery she had. Maybe she can't walk, or she could be in so much pain she is disabled; Maybe she is actually temporarily or permanently paralyzed? The fact is the OP's daughter made a commitment and the Op needed her there; no matter her age, the daughter screwed up big time.

OMG. My mom did something similar the day after i got out of the hospital after having surgery. She made me sit in her hot car for two hours while she went bead shopping.
