Wow I work as a cashier as well and I will literally just close my line and tell everyone to find another cashier and wait for you to get your wallet or if your not back in 15 minutes I'll put your groceries aside and re-open and once you get back I'll put your stuff through again and send you on your way
How were you planning on walking two miles home with a cartful of groceries?
I'm sorry you experienced that. When I used to work at a grocery store and someone forgot their wallet we'd always hold their stuff till they came back that day.
And that's why I do a pocket pat before I leave the house
Smh at all the people asking how she was going to walk the groceries home. You walk to the store, then take a taxi home when you have all the groceries. Which she would have totally been able to do if she hadn't forgotten her wallet.
Ouch, done similar, you have my sympathies.
That sucks, OP. I've been in the same position, don't feel bad. Mistakes happen. Make sure to double check before you leave next time, though!
If I were the manager and you were a regular, I would have offered to drive you home to get it. But nowadays, the manager would probably get fired for being polite.
I always walk to my nearest Shop Rite, which is 1.8 miles away, with a folding shopping cart. That's what people in the cities, without the car do. She obviously wasnt going to CARRY it all!

Been there OP. Have a sticky note on your door to remind to check for the essentials before ever leaving home
Sounds like it's time for a pizza delivery.
