Misguided

Today, my boyfriend brought me home flowers and candy for the first time in our one-year relationship. Thinking he was going to finally propose, I got excited. I asked why he was being so sweet, and he responded with, "I thought you'd take the breakup better this way." FML

I'm sorry, but "finally propose" and "1 year relationship"?

He should have got down on one knee when he said it. That would have been the best breakup of all time.

"Finally" propose after a whole year, huh? Ummmmmmmm... Okay.

It's interesting that people are saying negative things about the guy for trying to end the relationship with a positive gesture. Break ups are rarely great or easy, but is it his fault that she assumed that he was going to "finally" propose after a year? Unless there's more to the story, it seems that he tried to be a lot nicer about the break-up than many other people are...

ok, he was a douche. but seriously. you had only been together one year and you thought he was *finally* going to propose? even if you knew him before you dated that's not really a very long time to be dating. especially when you're saying you're hoping he "finally" proposes.

My parents dated for 10 years before they got married and still got a divorce in the end. If you wait only a year, don't expect much

What the hell do you mean by finally? You had been dating for 1 year. If you got married after one year you would divorce no doubt. People can't know enough about each other to get married after only one year.

Finally? WTF is wrong with you. You should never ever even think of getting married after 1 year. Good for him that he broke up with you. You are crazy.
