Misguided

Today, my boyfriend brought me home flowers and candy for the first time in our one-year relationship. Thinking he was going to finally propose, I got excited. I asked why he was being so sweet, and he responded with, "I thought you'd take the breakup better this way." FML

I'm sorry, but "finally propose" and "1 year relationship"?

He should have got down on one knee when he said it. That would have been the best breakup of all time.

"Finally?" Are you kidding me? I'd break up with you, too, if my girlfriend was bitching that I hasn't proposed after a YEAR.

What is OP talking about "finally going to propose" after one year? OP sounds pretty desperate if you ask me.

'finally propose' after only one year? ydi for being so clingy. I'm pro-commitment but expecting a proposal after a year is rushing things.

hey my parents got married after 5 months and now are very happy so all of you who are calling her clingy lay off kay

my boyfriend and i have been together for five god damn years and YOU honestly think you are ready for marriage after one? Honestly its very unlikely to find the one you want to marry after a year.

I agree, you aren't usually going to know he's "the one" after being in a relationship with him for only a year. Mind you, I also think 5 years is a little too long. What happens if, (sorry to be a pessimist) it all goes down the drain and you realize once you move in together that it just can't work after 5 years? To me, that'd be a waste of time... I think you'd have a pretty good idea after 2-3 years, no? Though, that doesn't mean you marry right then and there. Ah, it's complicated.
