My new house

By Anonymous - 22/01/2013 08:27 - New Zealand - Wainuiomata

Today, I bought my first house, blowing nearly all my savings on the deposit. I had left myself enough for just a couple of necessary bits of furniture. It turns out the previous owner completely stripped the house when he left, taking the oven and even the toilet with him, amongst other things. FML

Time to get on Craigslist for some free stuff

I'm sure people put free toilets on Craigslist for a reason...

I had one on there a few weeks ago, so sorry OP. Best of luck!

You can get a new toilet for like 80 bucks, and a used oven for under 100 pretty easy, just look around! Good luck :D

Well I guess I don't know how much appliances are in New Zealand but they can't be that much more...

Ignore my comment. I had a serious blonde moment. My apologies.

in the parts i live in new zealand, it would cost way more

6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

You may be able to sue depending on how your house deal was setup.

In New Zealand we don't really sue like in America :(

What would you do in a situation like this -- just suck it up, even if the contract said the appliances and so on stayed with the house? If what the former owner did is indeed against the contract, and if suing's not the answer there, is there another way to reverse the theft? Should the police be called?

Geometric- first off I am Canadian. Not American. But it makes no difference, if the seller broke a legal contract such as a house sale, legal action can be taken. But I guess New Zealanders are a bunch of push-overs.

Time to double check all those boring papers you signed, see if it was written out that those would be left... If so, don't just let it go, get your stuff back! If not, well, learn to pay attention!!

All fixtures and major appliances present at the time of showing are required to be left unless specified that they will not be.

Go to Toys Are Us and buy My First Potty and a Easy Bake Oven.

You do realize the oven is like $40, right? You could get a cheap microwave for $20 xD

It could be your grammar. But that's just a guess.

I thumbed it down because you pretty much restated what #1 and its replies said, sorry mate :P

I thumbed down because you asked a question, which could be answered by reading the FML, then answered your own question.

I thumbed it down because everyone else was doing it and I wanted to be popular.

I thumbed you down because you asked why people were thumbing you down. Anyone who blatantly cares about their thumb score is just asking to be thumbed down.

That sucks, but you deserved it if you didn't look at the house first.

Nobody deserves to not have a toilet.

30- do you really think someone would actually buy their first house sight unseen? The douche obviously took the shit when he moved out.
