News to me

By RBEE - 12/12/2009 18:02 - France

Today, my colleague rushed off to the hospital for the birth of his first son. Having met his wife at the Christmas party a couple of years ago, I called to congratulate her. Shame I didn't realize it was his mistress having the baby. Guess who broke the news to the wife. FML

...if he wanted it kept secret, why was he telling everyone at his work?

Ooops, but at least you got the wife into the clearing! It's about time she saw through the cheating bastard this colleague of yours is!

the OP most likely called the house phone to leave a message and the wife picked up, or maybe even wanted to leave a message on her cell phone and she picked up.

He may not know the wife well, but he knows the colleague. I'd be pleased if someone was kind enough to congratulate my wife. Or my girlfriend, since I'm not married. That the guy has a wife AND a girlfriend is his problem, not yours.

Well, it's not your fault your colleague is an idiot. At least, now the poor wife doesn't have to live with the jerk anymore.

Hmmm..........Did your colleague happen to be tiger woods?

I'm gonna have to say fake...the guy left because he was rushing to see the birth of his baby..so the OP called the wife, who is supposedly having a baby that second? Who calls a woman while she's giving birth? lol If it's days later she calls, I understand..but then that takes away from the whole "Today" aspect of FML Oh well..still a funny made up story

Well?! Don't leave us hanging here! Who broke the news?!?!

Wow, hopefully he isn't in a position where he can fire you. At least you saved the wife from having to be married to such an idiot! It's definitely not your fault! In a few months, the wife might be thanking you.

when will people realise that FML's have to start with Today, so therefore the time frame on this could have been, she rang at a later stage....

Cohesiveness is always sacrificed in the name of the FML character limit. That and the fact that you have to start a story with "Today."
