One simple trick!

By MisterT - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my kitchen sink was clogged. I poured a bottle of Drano down and came back two hours later. The clog is still there, but the glue on the pipe is not and now there is Drano-water all over the floor, staining and dissolving everything in my kitchen. FML

you are only supposed to leave it in for a few minutes and turn the water on. just sayin, ydi.

Next time read the instructions. On most Draino bottles you're only supposed to leave it in for 15-30 minutes.

uh at some point some one has to point out the fact that if his/her pipes are PVC then they would have fused the joints not glued them. that being said unless the draino also ate through the pipe I call bullshit. the other posibility is metal pipes which are screwed together with Teflon tape on the threads and once again I am pretty sure draino eat nether metal or Teflon.... but hey maybe the contracter did a shitty job putting it in.

i doubt this is BS, this happened to us as well. Draino seriously works wonders in getting things unclogged (in my experience, anyway). but yes, it does eat away at things. we have PVC pipes in our bathroom, and repeated uses caused the Draino to eat away at the joint. and yes, PVC pipes DO use glue, but you're also right that it's supposed to fuse the pipes together. also, it's possible OP did a home repair once before on the sink and used glue instead of getting it properly fixed. anyway, read the instructions next time, OP, and dont leave something like taht in your sink for TWO HOURS when it's supposed to be for a few minutes.

The best way to get out clogs is to snake it. Invest in one. They come in handy.

Get a snake. Those things actually work.

op really isn't so much of a dumbass.... if draino eats everything like a lot of you have said, maybe he lives in an older home and the glue couldn't take the chemicals, even after following proper instructions. it's not like everyone is an expert in the plumbing world and knows that draino isn't a good product and if slightly misused it can cause chaos.

I dont think you're supposed to leave it in there that long...

Ooo that bites. At that point I'd call a plumber. Oh, and lol @ #54; sue Drano indeed!
