Today, a girl was tailgating me, even though I was going at speed limit. Annoyed, I drove 10 mph under the speed limit, and every time she honked, I went 5 mph slower. Too bad she got the last laugh… I was pulled over for "reckless driving." FML

Always keep in mind you get ticketed for going too much under the speed limit. Yup, your fault.

You don't police the roads. You were probably some ass cruising in the passing lane. If someone's annoying you, just let them pass so both of you can get on with your lives.

i hate people like you. People who drive the speed limit drive pretty slow, if someones tailgating you, and you dont feel comfortable going faster thats fine, but just let people pass you; Just because u donr want to drive faster doesn't mean you should hold everyone else up

And did you ever consider the fact that maybe he was driving down a one lane road? I hate people like YOU. He was following the law by doing the speed limit, he shouldn't have to pull over because some little bitch wanted to drive like a bat out of hell. OP deserves it though for going that slow once he was being tailgated. But if someone is driving that slow on a multi-lane road, go around them and forget about them. If it's on a one lane road and they're impeding traffic, call the non-emergency number for your police station and have the send a cop out to pull the jackass over. No need to be such assholes on the road.

YDI for not knowing you can't go under the speed limit that much. The cop probably thought you were drunk or something like that. You know, just as you can pulled over for going OVER the speed limit, you can get pulled over for going UNDER the speed limit. Federal law states you can't go under the speed limit more than 10 mph, especially if it stops the flow of traffic around you.

It's actually recommended that if someone is tailgating you, you slow down so that they pass you and move on. But it kind of seems like this person just wanted to punish their tailgater.

Anyone who goes under the speed limit deserves to be tailgated and more importantly ticketed for stuipidity. Tailgating is only wrong if someone does this to you when you are doing the speed limit or slightly above. People who do this should be maimed by a pack of wild dogs... ...so should the slow people being tailgated who do not speed up to at least the speed limit posted. They are all pieces of shit.

I think you forgot what "speed LIMIT" means. It means, the absolute FASTEST you should drive under IDEAL CONDITIONS (bright sunny day, well-working car, no rain, no snow/ice, etc.). If the limit is 45, for example, 45 is the fastest you should drive on that road... 40 is fine. Engineers and other experts use complex calculations to figure out what speed limits should be.

#65 casts Win. crits OP for stupid amounts of logic. Road surfaces aren't all made equal. Driving over the speed limit on a posted road is not right and increases your chance of collision. Factors such as the friction to the tires is part of these calculations listed above. They leave some damper room of course, if you go 46 in a 45 zone you're not going to die (unless you suck at driving, or someone around you :p)

You're supposed to slow down to encourage them to pass, that's a lot safer for you and the tailgater. Also, everyone, yes, going too far under the speed limit is illegal, but tailgating is illegal too. It's not really OP's fault.
