Running

Today, I completed my 6-month training program for a track competition this weekend. I went to the park to run anyways because I needed some air after my boyfriend broke up with me. After one lap, my neighbor's 130 lb dog ran across the soccer field and jumped on me to say hi. My leg is broken. FML

I train as well like you do, I run a lot, I recently cracked 2 ribs a day before a karate belt grading, I had to go through it anyway since I paid and it was just pure agony. Obviously this is nothing compared to your FML. The first FML to actually make me say "shit" out loud when reading the last line, ever, I really feel bad for you. Good luck. I won't even bother with #1's comment about suing her neighbour. No need for the shitstorm that was started last time.

seems like that dog was really happy to see you ...

6 months of training and you're still too weak to handle a medium-sized dog? that sucks lol

I have no problem suing for negligence or other issues. My aunt went to a hospital and due to an error took a pill that caused her to have 3rd degree burns. She DID NOT sue the hospital. They made it right on their own merit because they REALIZED they made a mistake and took care of her. I have an issue when the first comment on this thread is "Sue him." Seriously how about we give the benefit of the doubt that the owner would help out and if he didn't then you have an emotional stake into your own wellbeing. Plus suing for your training is absurd. What happens if the OP made it to the event and placed dead last on their own merit? Can't sue yourself for performing like shit. Just funny that because we have a what-if scenario it's now fine to sue over your training whereas if the event unfolded there would be no recourse.

aww i feel yu bc i run track and i strained my ligaments in both my feet i dont know how but the doctor said i cant run until march 31st..but yurs is wayyy worse :(

i'm not even going to sugar coat it -- that sucks and I hope that you find a positive side to the situation. I also am an athlete and when you get hurt I know the feeling of "jeez i just spent all that training time for what!?" but sometimes it's nice to relax, focus on other things and get my life organized outside of sports. good luck :)

The dog isn't even that big and it broke your leg? Looks like you didn't do anything during your training.

WOW, that really sucks. Im so sorry. My friend went through that - she trained for over a year for her first marathon (chicago marathon). She picked up her papers...we were at the month countdown... and she tore something in her knee. Shes been trying to get back to running for a year now... its a tough struggle.

Drink more milk. Your bones seem pretty damn brittle. Anywho, to #1 sueing is a poor way to go about things.

That's an adorable dog that would run across a field to greet you though. Probably would've been better if it were a smaller dog, but the visual I get still makes me go "aww". :]

On the plus side, the dog must really like you.
