Scammed

Today, after a little detective work, I found out the money that recently went missing from my college fund was transferred by my mother, to her own account. She claims it's to pay a parking ticket. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I didn't know they fined people over $3,500 for a parking violation. FML

Maybe she parked on top of a person?

Maybe she parked on top of you for you to be able to make an uninteresting comment.

Maybe she parked on top of you for you to be able to make stupid comments consistently.

Nah, I think she parked on top of you for being so rude.

What's the point in parents creating a college fund if it's not used for it? Fyl for having a selfless mother who turned greedy!

People are usually innately greedy, they don't just become so. I feel like there's something missing from the story. Most likely Ops mother became addicted to crack cocaine after falling in love with a homeless man named Fraunk and couldnt get the drug lords off her back.

Yeah, sure, I guess that could have happened...

Maybe she has a few parking tickets haha.

It can reach that... If you don't pay multiple parking, speedo or DUI tickets for an extended period.

Speedo tickets? It's an offence to walk around in a speedo now? Well, shit.

God damnit. Server screwing up meant I couldn't edit my post. Speeding tickets... Not speedo. Auto correct you fail :/

I meant speeding tickets. Auto correct had other ideas.... Though wearing speedos SHOULD be an offense :p

It should! If one more overly proud man struts his junk past me while I'm innocently laying at the beach I'm gonna try and get a bill passed.

You can get there with *one* DUI ticket, once you figure in the cost of lawyer fees, court-ordered rehab, license reinstatement, fines, etc. Roommate of mine about 20 years ago got tagged for it, I became all too familiar. :-(

If she is the one who saved up the money, they its up to her how it is spent, and when its replaced (if shes going to). If its your money, then that really sucks that she would steal your hard earned money for something thats her own fault.

So even if the parents were the ones who saved up the money and had OP thinking he/she had money for college that makes it okay to take it away and leave OP with nothing?

It does not make it okay to take it, but it does not mean you should be mad if your not given the extra money, that most people work for on their own.

It does not make it okay to take it, but it does not mean you should be mad if your not given the extra money, that most people work for on their own to have. Sorry for the double post :(

If she is working, then wouldn't you expect to take it out of her own account? How is this person going to pay for next years school? 3500 is A LOT of money... And it's her own fault that if any "parking ticket" were that much, it should not be taken from her child's bank that is meant for school.

I do not know about op, but I set up an account when I was 15 and needed one of my parents on the account because I was underage, when I was finally in school they drained my savings...

86- That is one of the scenarios where FYL does apply. I am sorry that your parents did that to you since you did work for that money (it sounds like you worked for it since you set up the account for yourself) so that you would have it when you needed it, and they just went and swiped it out from under you.

I am sorry if I am offending people who have had this happen to them, and I agree that if parents steal their kids money that it is very wrong. But I have listened to a lot of kids who are spoiled and have gone to their parents to pay for their schooling that they don't care about , and then listen to people who with working still cant afford to go. Therefor The people I have respect for are the people who work for it (or at least part if it) and parents who can afford to do it and keep their word. If your still pissed with my comments after I've explained myself then clearly you just have an issue with me.

Well when you say college fund, it sounds like your parents have been putting their own money in there. If that's not the case, then FYL.

Must of have been a really Damn good reason to give a ticket like that 0.0

Bribing the cop writing the ticket with a donut, maybe?

She is doing the same thing to her boyfriend, I read that earlier.
